Plural nouns vocabulary games for kids

- practice forming the plural form of nouns. Practice the difference between singular and plural forms with these fun games. You can practice spelling, vocabulary, speaking, questions and answers, as well a grammar with these great games and activities.

This game focuses on plural nouns with irregular spelling with four main sections. There is a plural nouns vocabulary practice section and a plural nouns spelling section. Then, there are some games for conversation practice and games for listening practice. The question and answer activities are associated with the ESL Young Learners Curriculum - Unit 7.

The questions and answers for this game are as follows.

  • A: What's this?
  • B: It's a bear.
  • A: Is this a panda?
  • B: Yes, it is./No, it's not.
  • A: What are these?
  • B: They're bears.
  • A: Are these pandas?
  • B: Yes, they are./No, they're not.

Other notes:

  • This stresses the difference between singular and plural forms. There is heavy emphasis on use of the article "a" for non-definitive countable nouns.
  • All of the plural forms in this activity are regular form nouns that simply take the -s suffix and do not require special spelling rules for affixing the suffix.  For irregular spelling and irregular plural nouns, try the plural nouns 2 and 3 on this site.
  • This activity doesn't require students to use the quantifier "some" prior to plural forms, but in the write in sections it will accept "some" before the plural forms.
  • The spelling section will accept singular nouns with or without the article "a"
