This learning app focuses on verbs with direct objects and has four main sections. There is a verbs vocabulary practice section and a verbs spelling section. Then, there are verbs games for conversation practice and games for present participle practice in the first, second and third person singular. The question and answer games and grammar games are associated with the ESL Young Learners Curriculum - Unit 6.
The questions and answers for this game are as follows:
A: What's he doing?
B: He's climbing a tree.
A: Is he taking a bath?
B: Yes, he is./No, he's not.
A: What are you doing?
B: I'm playing the piano.
A: Are you taking a bath?
B: No. I'm not taking a bath. I'm waiting for the bus.
The spelling game will accept the vocabulary word as is, "play", in the infinitive, "to play", or the present participle "eating". With verbs that extend into direct object clauses, only the present participle or verb and object are acceptable, "playing the piano", "play the piano"
These verbs are presented as two people talking. They could be talking in the first and second person or talking about someone else in the third person. It may be important to explain that to students before they play. However, they should be able to learn the difference as they play..
